Why your 2010 Honda Fit needs a radio code

Hondas are popular cars—not only among car enthusiasts but also among car thieves. This is one reason Honda engineers came up with the anti-theft radio system
If someone breaks into your Honda and steals the radio, they won’t be able to get it to work in another car without the unique radio code assigned to your vehicle.
These codes are great for security purposes, but sometimes they can be a nuisance. Whenever it’s been disconnected from the battery, your radio will shut down and blink the word CODE at you. You’ll need to input your 2010 Honda Fit radio code before you can listen to your favorite tunes again.

How to find your 2010 Honda Fit radio code

Luckily, the anti-theft radio code can be retrieved with minimal effort. Begin by looking around your Fit’s glove box for a white sticker that says “Anti-Theft Radio Code,” followed by a code of five or six digits.
Especially if you have an older car, you may not find the sticker. It may be that the sticker fell off—or was peeled off by your bored younger cousin. Your next step should be to look in your Fit’s owner's manual
The sticker may have been affixed to the cover of the manual or placed on a card inside the manual.

How to look up a 2010 Honda Fit radio code

Can’t find the code in the glove box or owner’s manual? No worries. You can retrieve your code with your
Honda's vehicle identification number (VIN)
and radio’s serial number.
The VIN is an alpha-numeric code consisting of 17 numbers and letters that you’ll likely find at the bottom of the driver’s side windshield
Other places to find the VIN are on your vehicle title, insurance card, or registration documents.
Finding your radio’s serial number is a bit more complicated.
Steps to retrieving your radio’s serial number
Step 1: Put your key in the ignition and turn to the On/Accessory position. Do not start the engine.
Step 2: Hold down the 1 and 6 preset buttons on the radio at the same time. Hold them down for about 5-6 seconds.
Step 3: Reach over and press the radio’s On button. Be sure that you are still holding the 1 and 6 preset buttons at the same time.
On the radio’s display, you should now see the 10-digit serial number for the radio.
Now that you have both the radio serial number and your Fit’s VIN, you can use this information to find your 2010 Honda Fit’s radio code by:
  • Inputting the VIN and serial number into Honda’s
    online lookup tool
  • Calling 1-800-999-1009 and sharing the VIN and serial number
  • Bringing your Honda to the nearest dealership and providing them with the VIN, serial number, and proof of ownership
Once you have located the radio code, input it into the radio using the radio preset buttons. Your radio should begin working immediately.
