The engine oil capacity of a 2007 Lexus RX 350 is 6.4 quarts or 6.1 liters. You’ll want to keep this value in mind throughout your RX 350 ownership to help keep it in the best shape possible.
Owning an older model vehicle can come with extra car maintenance
requirements. One of the most crucial services for a vehicle’s health is an oil change
, and for that, it’s important to know your engine oil capacity. That’s why we’ve gathered the 2007 Lexus RX 350’s engine oil capacity here for you plus a few other oil change need-to-knows. Let’s get started.

To begin, we’ll cover exactly how much engine oil the 2007 Lexus RX 350 needs. The 3.5-liter engine of the Lexus RX 350 has an engine oil capacity of 6.4 quarts, or 6.1 liters.
You may feel a bit tripped up by a 3.5-liter engine needing 6.1 liters of oil. Keep in mind that the “3.5-liter” engine refers to the amount of space occupied by the engine’s cylinders, otherwise known as the engine’s displacement. The 6.1 liters tells us the engine oil capacity, or how much oil the engine needs to work. These are not interchangeable values.
What kind of oil does a 2007 Lexus RX 350 need?
We now know that the 2007 Lexus RX 350 needs 6.4 quarts (or 6.1 liters) of motor oil for optimal functioning—but what kind of oil will meet its needs? Not just any six-and-some-liter jug of engine oil will work with your engine. You need premium grade 5W-30, and Lexus recommends Toyota Genuine Motor Oil.
The oil grade tells us the oil’s viscosity level at an engine’s cold start conditions and normal operating conditions. For a 5W-30 requirement, the oil has a low viscosity (5) at a cold start W for “winter”. When the engine is heated to its normal operating temperature around 212°F, the oil needs to have a viscosity level of 30.
That specific oil grade will provide the best conditions for the engine and reduce unnecessary wear and tear on the engine components. And you can use either conventional or synthetic motor oil as long as it meets the 5W-30 requirements! Just be sure to look for the API (American Petroleum Institute) Certification Seal on whichever oil you go for.
How often to change oil on a 2007 Lexus RX 350
We know you’re just dying to grab your 6.4-quart jug of 5W-30 and head out for a DIY oil change right away. Let’s make sure it’s the right time for an oil change first.
Lexus recommends an oil change for the 2007 RX 350 every 3,000 to 5,000 miles when you use conventional engine oil or every 7,500 to 10,000 miles when you use synthetic oil. Those ranges aren’t the most specific, though, and your driving habits and environment affect how often you should get an oil change too.
You’ll be able to more accurately identify the correct time for an oil change when you get to know the symptoms of poor oil quality or low oil levels. You may need to swap out for new engine oil if:
The current oil looks dark brown or black in color
The current oil looks gritty or sludgy in texture
You notice unfamiliar engine noise
You smell something burning or smoking
Your vehicle’s general performance weakens

How to change your oil and oil filter
Whether your fuel economy has taken a dip, you notice contamination in your oil, or it’s just been x amount of miles since your previous oil change, you’re ready to change your oil. Grab these materials:
6.4 quarts of premium 5W-30 oil
Funnel and gloves (to minimize mess)
You’ll want to make sure your engine is warmed up before you start, so let your RX 350 idle for five to 20 minutes depending on the outside temperature, or take a quick cruise around town. When you feel confident that your engine is at its normal operating temperature, shut the vehicle down while on level ground, open the hood, and follow these steps:
Use the socket wrench to remove the oil drain bolt under the engine, and allow the old oil to drain into the drain pan
Remove the used oil filter
After all old oil is drained away, install the new oil filter
Replace the oil drain bolt
Refill the engine using 6.4 quarts of 5W-30 and replace the oil fill cap
From there, turn the engine back on to make sure nothing is leaking. All dry? All set! Now you just need to clean up. Be sure to pour the discarded oil into a sealable container for proper disposal at the nearest participating recycling center. Don’t dump any oil in the trash or on the ground.
