Whether your fuel economy has taken a dip, you notice contamination in your oil, or it’s just been x amount of miles since your previous oil change, you’re ready to change your oil. Grab these materials:

Socket wrench

Drain pan

Filter wrench

New oil filter

6.4 quarts of premium 5W-30 oil

Funnel and gloves (to minimize mess)

You’ll want to make sure your engine is warmed up before you start, so let your RX 350 idle for five to 20 minutes depending on the outside temperature, or take a quick cruise around town. When you feel confident that your engine is at its normal operating temperature, shut the vehicle down while on level ground, open the hood, and follow these steps:

Remove the oil fill cap

Use the socket wrench to remove the oil drain bolt under the engine, and allow the old oil to drain into the drain pan

Remove the used oil filter

After all old oil is drained away, install the new oil filter

Replace the oil drain bolt

Refill the engine using 6.4 quarts of 5W-30 and replace the oil fill cap

From there, turn the engine back on to make sure nothing is leaking. All dry? All set! Now you just need to clean up. Be sure to pour the discarded oil into a sealable container for proper disposal at the nearest participating recycling center. Don’t dump any oil in the trash or on the ground.
