Is the 2021 Jaguar F-Pace redesigned?

A bit. The 2021 Jaguar F-Pace has some redesigns, engine changes, and additional standard features.
The changes are not monumental, but it is one of the most substantial year-over-year facelifts for the F-Pace yet. The F-Pace was only introduced in 2017 and is still in its first generation.
Whether you buy a 2020 or 2021 F-Pace, you are getting a similar vehicle. Both are comfortable luxury crossovers, with a base 246 hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder and standard AWD, though the optional engines do vary. If you are deciding between the two years, the 2021 upgrades may be enough to sway your decision.
Some standout features of the Jaguar F-Pace include:
  • Aesthetic comfort-focused interior
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity
  • Firmly-tuned suspension for a sporty driving experience
  • Plentiful cargo space
  • Available supercharged V8 that cranks the power to 11, putting out 550 hp and boosting the 0-60 time to an impressive 3.7 seconds.

2021 Jaguar F-Pace vs. 2020 Jaguar F-Pace: what changed?

Let’s take a closer look at what features Jaguar changed for the 2021 F-Pace.

Styling

Looking at the exterior of the 2021 F-Pace you might not notice the subtle style changes. The most notable changes are the revised grille, sportier hood and rear bumper redesigns, and slight updates to the headlights and tail lights.
The major style upgrades are found in the interior. For the 2021 F-Pace, Jaguar heavily improved the standard features and infotainment system. Interior upgrades include:
  • An 11.4-inch touchscreen display—up from the 10.0-inch display in the 2020 model
  • New Pivi and Pivi Pro infotainment systems, which add over-the-air update capabilities
  • Standard 14-speaker Meridian stereo system
  • Standard keyless entry and heated seats
The 2021 F-Pace is offered in four configurations, with plenty of optional features to add, like built-in navigation, a 12.3-inch digital display and instrument cluster, and cabin air ionization. The base level 2021 F-Pace P250 originally retailed for $49,995.

Engine changes

Another notable update to the F-Pace lineup in 2021 was the addition of a new optional engine. A turbocharged and supercharged 3.0-liter inline six with “mild-hybrid” technology that uses a 48-volt starter generator system. This replaces the supercharged V6 that powered previous F-Pace models for years.
The mild-hybrid technology uses that 48-volt lithium-ion battery to store power and apply it to later acceleration and to help improve the engine’s start-stop system. The new I6 puts out a comparable amount of power, upping the horsepower a bit from 380 to 395.
This brings the total engine configurations for the 2021 F-Pace to four: the standard 2.0L I4 in the P250 and P250 S, this updated 3.0L I6 in the P340 S and R-Dynamic S400, and the powerful 5.0L V8 in the SVR.

Pricing

The 2021 F-Paces upgrades come with a moderate upgrade in price. The base P250 originally started at $49,995, and prices went up all the way to $84,600 for the SVR.
For comparison, here are the starting prices of the base model F-Pace since its introduction to the lineup in 2017:
  • 2020 Jaguar F-Pace 25t: $44,800
  • 2019 Jaguar F-Pace 25t: $44,600
  • 2018 Jaguar F-Pace 25t: $43,000
  • 2017 Jaguar F-Pace 20d: $41,990

Should you buy a 2021 Jaguar F-Pace?

The big question for anyone trying to decide on their next car: should you buy the 2021 Jaguar F-Pace?
If you are deciding between the 2020 and 2021 F-Pace, it is up to you whether the improved standard features and infotainment system are worth the extra money.
That said, The 2022 and 2023 F-Paces feature even fewer redesigns than the 2021 model. From 2020 to 2023, you can expect comparable engine output, nearly identical fuel economy for base models (at 22 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on highways), and the ability to opt for almost all of the same additional bells and whistles. Perhaps the 2021 F-Pace hits the sweet spot.
If you’re set on the Jaguar F-Pace and are on board with the shift toward electric, it might even be worthwhile to wait a few years. Jaguar has announced it will be all-electric by 2025 and will launch electric models of its entire line-up by 2030, so the next major update to the Jaguar F-Pace is just around the corner.
