Toyota Tried To Tease a New SUV but Fans Sniffed It Out Quick

In a recent post to Twitter and other social media, Toyota teased a rear-end view of its new SUV, hoping to generate excitement. But fans quickly realized it could be none other than the 2023 Sequoia.

background
In an attempt at building suspense,
Toyota
recently posted a cropped photo of the rear angle of a new vehicle, with a Twitter caption that stated “Something big is coming to the
Toyota SUV
lineup…”. The suspense was short-lived, though—as
Kelley Blue Book
predicted, most auto fans and experts agree that Toyota has redesigned the Toyota Sequoia for 2023.
So now, the real question isn’t whether the SUV in mind is the 2023 Toyota Sequoia, but whether they’ve actually done any remodeling to this massive vehicle. Here’s to hoping—get the rundown on the auto industry’s predictions for the 2023 Toyota Sequoia.

Toyota’s attempt at secrecy

The Toyota Sequoia has been in desperate need of a facelift since 2008—its basic design and concept have been the same. It’s larger than the 4Runner, and more suburban-friendly than either the Tacoma or Tundra, even though it’s built on the Tundra’s truck chassis.
So what does the photo reveal about any redesign details? Not much, but angular styling seems to be the highlight so far, with a redesigned C-pillar and upscaled rear taillights that echo the 2023 Tundra’s styling choices.
As Kelley Blue Book indicated, fans and critics weren’t very impressed with the lackluster post, which gives little more than speculation to be made about where the 2023 Toyota Sequoia may be headed. But thankfully, some predictions can be made; since the 2023 Tundra and Sequoia share the same chassis, they may also share the same engine and transmission adjustments.

Here’s to guessing what Toyota has in store for the 2023 Sequoia

If the
2023 Tundra
can tell us anything about what Toyota is planning to change for their behemoth SUV, the Sequoia might receive a standard
V6
3.5-liter powerhouse, putting out 389 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. There may also be a twin-turbo V-6, 3.5-liter engine upgrade, cranking out 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque.
A TRD package could also be in the works, which most likely will include beefier off-road tires, skid plates, and a juiced-up suspension. The 2023 Sequoia may start at around $50,000, maxing out near $68,000 when fully equipped. Buyers can also expect a slew of safety features, including pedestrian detection, blind spot warnings, lane keeping assist, and more.
Die-hard Toyota fans may note that the Japanese automaker is saying goodbye to the V8 options in its full-size lineup. However, with such powerful engine options, it’s doubtful that anyone will truly mind.
As far as standard safety features or complete trim packages, it’s hard to tell. Neither the 2023 Tundra nor Sequoia’s details haven’t been fully released to the public, so even though Toyota’s social media game isn’t on point, they’ve done a good job of keeping their secrets.
