background
A unicorn in the automotive world is a vehicle that has a great price and a great value. Many drivers are looking for a car that provides awesome features,
cool technology
, enhanced comfort, and doesn’t break the bank. In previous years, the
Kia
Telluride checked all of those boxes.
Unfortunately, Kia recently announced price increases for the Kia Telluride. And while the price increases definitely make the Kia Telluride less of a great deal, it’s still a great SUV.

Kia Telluride base price increases

Kia has increased pricing on all trims of the Telluride for 2023, with some models costing close to $3,000 more this year than last year. For 2023 there are seven trims of the Telluride. Pricing for the base trim, the LX, starts at $37,025, which is $2,300 more than last year’s LX model.
The two most luxurious models of the Kia Telluride, the X-Pro and SX-Prestige, start at $51,220 and $51,725, respectively. In previous years, no Telluride models crossed the $50,000 mark. The trims in between the base LX and top two trims are the S, which starts at $38,925, the EX, which starts at $42,625, the X-Line which starts at $46,820, and the SX, which starts at $46,825. Some of these trims have had price increases of up to $2,900 between the years.

Kia Telluride additional costs

Not only did the Kia Telluride raise the sticker prices of all models for 2023, but there’s additional costs that drivers might incur to get the vehicle they want.
Car and Driver
reports that the X-Line package, which adds additional ground clearance and styling tweaks, costs an additional $2,195 on the EX and $1,395 on the SX and SX-Prestige trims.
The X-Pro Upgrade, which is only available for the all-wheel drive SX and SX-Prestige trims, costs an additional $2,395. The package includes everything in the X-Line package, and adds 18-inch wheels, all-terrain tires, plus increases tow rating to 5,500 pounds.
Only the SX-Prestige comes with all-wheel drive, and to add it to any other trim costs a flat $2,000.

But, the Kia Telluride is still a great SUV

Despite the price increases on trims and add-on packages, the Kia Telluride is still a great SUV. Under the hood of all trims drivers will find an impressive 3.8-liter, V6 engine that carries 291 hp paired with an eight speed automatic transmission.
