list for best hatchbacks of 2022, and its potential is high. One of the biggest perks of the 2022 Hyundai Ioniq is its fuel economy—the car gets a remarkable 59 mpg combined highway and city driving. Not only do drivers get a bang for their buck when it comes to mileage, but the sticker price of the car isn’t too bad either. The base model of the 2022 Ioniq starts around $22,000 and prices out around $33,000.
On top of the great value, the 2022 Hyundai Ioniq has great safety features, a roomy interior that comfortably transports both passengers and cargo, and a user-friendly infotainment system. When it comes to Hyundai hatchbacks, the 2022 Ioniq is one of the best ones on the market.
2022 Hyundai Veloster N
Another Hyundai hatchback with high potential awaiting ranking in the U.S. News list is the 2022 Hyundai Veloster N.
With a price range between $32,000 and $34,000, this hatchback model is a bit pricier than the Ioniq, but does come with some added benefits. The Veloster N has a turbocharged engine that carries 275 hp, as well as the option to add manual transmission, making it one of the only sporty hatchbacks on the market today.

describes the car as having a “delicious exhaust note” and “sharp steering.” Perks outside of the powerful engine include comfortable front seats, a user-friendly infotainment system, the classic Hyundai safety features, and overall smooth handling while driving. Unlike the Ioniq, the Veloster N doesn’t have great fuel economy, coming in at 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, which is a downside.
2020 Hyundai Elantra GT Hatchback
Although the Hyundai Elantra GT hatchback was discontinued in 2021, if you don’t mind buying a car that’s a few model years old, this 2020 Hyundai is a great option. Prices range between $21,000 and $24,000 for this hatchback model, which is a fantastic deal for the powerful engine.
This front-wheel hatchback is fueled by the driver’s choice of either a four-cylinder, 161 hp engine or a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that carries 201 hp.
