officially announced the release of Car Thing just last month, and we have to say, we're excited. For only $89.99, Car Thing users will have access to a device that makes listening to Spotify offerings in the car exceptionally easy. Never again will you have to worry about adapting your listening habits to the needs of a specific vehicle.

What's especially appealing about Car Thing is the ease with which it can be used. For starters, drivers can control it using voice, touch, or physical controls, meaning that it's easy to queue up your desired listening material without taking your hands off the wheel.
Controls on Car Thing function in different ways. For one, there's a conveniently located dial for those who want a hands-on experience with controlling their listening selection. Car Thing also allows you to preset up to four of your favorites to get you where you want to go more quickly. And finally, Spotify is planning to incorporate additional features into Car Thing in the near future, thanks to clear demand from customers.
The features on the horizon include Night Mode, which dims the screen at the end of the day, and an Add to Queue command, which is controlled through voice controls.
Car Thing May Lure More Spotify Premium Customers
Car Thing has been available since last October, but only to select Premium Customers who joined a waitlist. It's only recently become more widely available.
We'd guess that Spotify is hoping that Car Thing will help increase the number of customers signing up for its Premium subscription, which costs $9.99 per month.
Customers hoping to use Car Thing not only need to have a Premium subscription, but they need to make sure to have a phone with a mobile data connection as well.
