Ford hasn't produced a Mach 1 vehicle for 17 years, but to span the divide between the Mustang GT and the Mustang Shelby GT500, Ford combined the best features of the

What's unique about the Mustang Mach 1?
The basic Mach 1 includes standard features similar to the GT, but has upgraded to the Tremec 3160 six-speed transmission from the GT350, making it a much smoother shifter than the "clunky" Getrag unit in the GT,
The Mach 1 offers an optional 10-speed automatic transmission, too, which supplies ample speed and dexterity to drivers to compete on the track as well as ride comfortably around town. The 10-speed uses AI to adapt to your driving style to automate downshifting as it learns how you like to handle the curves.
The 5.0 liter V-8 boosts the output to 480 horsepower, rather than the 460 featured in the GT, by using the GT350 intake manifold and adding some tweaks to the engine's computer.
You can also place the Mach 1’s exhaust in "quiet mode" for driving through your neighborhood, but let it howl again once you're on the track or the open road.
