The Lexus RX has been a solid, midsized, luxury sedan by
Lexus
for decades. The
Lexus RX
was
Toyota’s (Lexus’ parent company)
first true attempt at a luxury crossover, debuting in 1997 in Japan, then coming to the United States shortly thereafter in 1999.
With each iteration of the car since, Lexus has continued to improve, update and modernize the RX. Now, over 20 years since the car’s creation, we’re exploring a first look at the 2023 Lexus RX. Although we don’t know too much yet, here are the basics of what you can expect from the newest edition of this luxury sedan.

2023 Lexus RX pricing and trims

Based on past versions of the Lexus RX, the base model of the 2023 model will likely start at a price point of roughly $46,000. As with all other cars, as a driver goes up in trim, the price point will increase.
It has yet to be announced the specific trims being offered with the 2023 Lexus RX but we can likely expect to see some kind of sports trim, as well as different powertrain options. Pricing for the more advanced models should be at a maximum, around $60,000.

2023 Lexus RX interior and design

All Lexus cars are known to have quality, luxury materials—and the 2023 Lexus RX will not differ from this trend. Changes to the interior and design will probably be minimal, likely focusing around giving drivers options for trim and colors inside.
In the last version of the RX, Lexus underwent some major technology changes to make the infotainment system easier and safer to use for the driver. For that reason, it’s likely we won’t see any major technology changes in this model, with the expectation of a possible larger touch screen infotainment system.

2023 Lexus RX engine and power

Perhaps the biggest change from earlier models coming with the 2023 Lexus RX is what’s under the hood.
Motor1
reported that two Japanese news outlets (Creative 311 and Magazine X), published, from the country the car was first created in, that there would be some exciting powertrain updates.
The current
2022 Lexus RX
supports a 3.5-liter V6 engine with a turbocharged 2.4-liter gasoline mill. This engine produces 275 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque, and is the same engine found in the new Lexus NX.
For the 2023 Lexus RX, it’s rumored the old engine will be replaced by new powertrain options, one even being a hybrid plug-in model. There will reportedly be three types of hybrid powertrains.
First, there’s the top of the line RX500h that will pair a turbocharged 2.4-liter engine with an electric motor. In the middle, there will be an RX450h+ that uses a 2.5-liter engine, paired with an electric motor and powered by a lithium-ion battery. Lastly, the base hybrid model, the RX350h, will also utilize a 2.5-liter engine paired with an electric motor.
But, statistics like horsepower, maximum speed, acceleration time, and more with these engines have yet to be released. Plus, none of this has been confirmed or denied by Lexus. To find out if our predictions are true, we’ll just have to wait and see the official announcement.
