Automobiles came about
by the innovation of motorcycles
, so it's no surprise that these bikes can go as fast as cars, if not faster. Eleven bikes can legitimately
outrun other motorcycles and even some vehicles when it comes to speed. Which ones are they, and how fast can they go?What are the fastest Italian brand motorcycles?
According to Luxe Digital
, Ducati has two motorcycles on the list; the first one is the Panigale V4 R, which is strictly a racer bike. But, there is a street-legal version available. The Panigale V4R can top 199 mph with an engine that produces 221 hp and 83 lb-ft of torque. The second Ducati is the 1199 Panigale R, which runs on a two-cylinder engine sporting titanium rods and a lightweight flywheel. The motor can generate 202 hp while topping out at 202 mph.
Another Italian brand motorcycle is the Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory. This one runs on a V-4 engine that produces 217 hp. and 90 lb-ft of torque. Like the Panigale V4 R, it can go 199 mph.
The last one listed is the MV Agusta F4CC, a hand-built bike with a price tag of $120,000. Its engine is tuned to get 200 hp, and it can go 195 mph.
Fast motorcycles from Japan and Germany
There are two Japanese brand motorcycles on the list. The Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa has an engine that generates 197 hp. and 139 lb-ft of torque. Suzuki tweaked it to provide more control so that it could go up to 194 mph.
Kawasaki is another Japanese brand that builds some pretty tough bikes. The brand has two motorcycles on the list. First, there's the Ninja H2R, which is only meant for the track, but it's designed to go up to 240 mph.
Kawasaki's Ninja ZX-14R Supersport is also a track-only bike. This motorcycle has Brembo 4-piston caliper brakes, which help it come to a stop after roaring to a top speed of 249 mph.
The German brand bike is the BMW S1000RR, which is built on a lightweight chassis. Powering it up is an Inline-four engine producing 205 hp. You can accelerate as fast as 188 mph with this bike, making it one of the slower ones on the list, but it still packs a punch.
American and Canadian brand bikes that have high speeds
Canada isn't left behind when it comes to producing super fast motorcycles. The Damon Hypersport Pro is based on an electric powertrain. Acceleration time for a 0 to 60 mph run is an astonishing three seconds. Not bad for a bike that reaches 200 mph.
One of the two American brands on the list is the Lightning LS-218, another electric motorcycle. Its 150 kWh motor produces 200 hp and can reach a top speed of 218 mph.
The second American bike is also the fastest one listed, the MTT 420-RR. This motorcycle is powered by a Rolls Royce Allison turbine engine that generates 420 hp. Its top speed is 273 mph, but the brand only produces five of these bikes per year.
