The 2023
Porsche
911 Carerra GTS Cabriolet America is set to debut at the end of this year. It’s a classically chic roadster, filled with heart-stopping performance features and luxury design details to make you swoon.

The first Porsche roadster

70 years ago in 1952, Porsche released a 356 Roadster for the American market—the Roadster America. Porsche North America wasn’t even in existence yet, and the only reason the Roadster America was released was credited to Max Hoffman, who immigrated to the U.S. from Germany during WW2 and began importing and selling European cars in the American market.
Hoffman single-handedly influenced European car makers to make changes to their automobiles over the years, including Porsche. He coaxed Porsche into making a 356 convertible roadster exclusively for the American market; some even believe he had a hand in designing the Porsche logo.

The newest Porsche America

Fast forward 70 years and Porsche is at it again. The 2023
Porsche 911
Carerra GTS Cabriolet America will hit dealerships at the end of this year, and Porsche isn’t just slapping on paint and stickers. According to
MotorTrend
, this “992-generation America sees its 3.0 liter twin-turbo flat-six juiced to 473 hp and matched by a standard Porsche Active Suspension Management Sport system with Porsche's rear steering system.”
This means the open-top America will be lowered by 0.4 inches from other 911s and will have an additional set of springs in the rear suspension. Add in large 16-inch front rotors, a standard seven-speed manual transmission, the Porsche Sport exhaust system, the Sport Chrono Package, and the attention-seeking piston fixed calipers, and you get a true, thrilling-to-drive roadster experience.

It’s all in the details for the Cabriolet America

While the performance and “what’s under the hood” are exciting as is, there are more details on the America to make it truly one-of-a-kind. The eye-catching red, white, and silver hand-masked and painted wheels harken back to the 1952 wheels and pop against the 356 Azure blue paint scheme on the car. This blue paint color will only be offered on the America in 2023, but Porsche hasn’t ruled it out as a potential color on other vehicles going forward.
The windshield frame is a satin black instead of the same blue as the body. White and Guards Red details abound, from the two-tone badges to the pin-stripes and America stripe decals on the sides.
The interior is all black, but with Pebble Gray and Guards Red stitching details everywhere. The center console has more of the stitching and the word “America” embossed into the top of it. Door sill plates that light up celebrate the 70 years since the first Roadster America.
You can opt for an additional interior treatment package that features Guards Red details on the steering wheel and additional stitching on the gear knob and seats, headrests, and floor mats.  The back seat is more of a shelf than a seat, keeping with classic roadster values, but there are four bright red seat belts inside America.

Now, for the bad news

Only 115 of these Anniversary models will be made for North America. 100 will go to the U.S. and 15 to Canada. As if that bad news isn’t enough, the price tag might cause you even more heartache.
The standard package rate is $186,370, and if you opt-in for the interior package, you’re looking at $193,880. This all means that the fun little roadster with the really long name is going to be a major luxury collectors’ item.
