4 Ugly Trucks That Should’ve Never Seen the Light of Day
Some vehicles are praised for their elegant design and styling, but others can be eyesores that are hard not to poke fun at. Take a look at our list of the top 4 ugly trucks—these pickups should’ve never seen the light of day.
are called beautiful by critics; others fail to catch anyone’s eye. But others are eyesores, ugly trucks that shouldn’t have ever been made, let alone sold to anyone. When it comes to ugly trucks, there’ve certainly been some
However, the top four ugliest trucks in our list are vehicles you might still see on the road today. From the older Honda Ridgelines to the Chevy SSR, we’ve found assembled ugliest of ugly. Take a look and have a laugh at
On our list of ugly trucks, the Chevy SSR is number one. Looking something like a mouse crossed with a compact sedan, the Chevy SSR’s purpose was never quite clear. Chevy began producing the SSR in 2004, and although it was marketed as a roadster, the body style was atrocious and is the subject of ridicule to this day.
While it had impressive performance for its size with a5.3-liter V8 engine that put out about 300-hp and 335 lb-ft of torque, Chevy’s ugly truck could barely tow 2,500 lbs. Its ugly and impractical nature spelled doom for this short-lived mini-pickup.
The Honda Ridgeline has long been made fun of as an ugly truck that resembles a minivan with half the body chopped off, but compared to many of the other vehicles on this list, the Honda Ridgeline managed to become somewhat popular.
Honda’s ugly truck was designed based on a unibody chassis (able to be used for producing both sedans and the Ridgeline on the same chassis), but witha towing capacity of 5,000 lbs, it manages to outperform the SSR, placing it at number four on our list of ugly trucks.
#3: The 2003 Subaru Baja
Based on its forerunner, the Subaru Brat, the third ugly truck on our list is the Subaru Baja. With a 3.5-foot bed, it’s uncertain what anyone would toss in the back of this ugly truck, besides a limited amount of groceries.
While it was reported to have driven nicely, with smooth handling and impressive gas mileage at the time ( 26 mpg on the highway) the Subaru Baja was designed for show, not for utility.
And strangely enough, the runner lights on top of this ugly truck only turn on when the emergency brake is pulled—which makes little to no sense at all.
The last ugly truck on our countdown is the 1991 Ford Skyranger. Although it’s outdated compared to the rest of these ugly trucks, the Skyranger has such a wacky styling that it would inevitably be included.
Based on the successful (and conversely practical)
, the Skyranger is essentially the same truck… but with an odd convertible, soft top, and of all things, a spoiler.
While this truck was pitched to Ford, but never entered production, we’re convinced that this was a blessing in disguise. After all—imagine the wildly successful Ford Maverick with the same body styling. Yikes.
