The 2022 Subaru Crosstrek ranges from $23,145 to $36,345. The Subaru SUV has an overall 29 mpg, with 20 mpg in town and 39 mpg on the highway.
A 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 152 hp is standard, with uplevel versions offering a more robust 2.5-liter engine. The plug-in hybrid version gets about 17 mpg on electric power and 33 mpg overall in regular hybrid mode.
Trims include the Base, Premium, Sport, Wilderness, Limited, and Touring. Though it doesn’t make much sense to pay for the expensive Touring model if you live in a warmer climate
. Thanks to its tall front side windows, slender roof pillars and a pretty large rear window, the view from most angles is pretty impressive. However, the tapering rear side windows, chunky rear roof pillars, and rising beltline can create blind spots depending on where you look.
The third rear triangular window helps out and so does blind spot warning (BSW) when you’re backing out.
Consumer Reports
rated the Subaru SUV #1 of 15 subcompact sport-utility vehicles. The Crosstrek earned an overall score of 86 and a 5 out of 5 rating for its predicted reliability, braking, and usability. Buyers can earn up to $4,502 cash back incentives through Dec. 31.
2022 Subaru Forester
If you’re looking for ample headroom and lots of space for cargo, the 2022 Subaru Forester has got you covered. The Forester was rated #1 of 23 compact sport-utility vehicles and models range anywhere from $25,895 to $35,995.
According to Consumer Reports, the 2022 Subaru Forester offers one of the best outward views of any vehicles they’ve tested. The organization was impressed with the Subaru SUV’s slim roof pillars and large side glass and windshield.
And since the side mirrors sit low, it’s easier to see cars or pedestrians at busy intersections. While head restraints may slightly obstruct the view from the rear window, the window is large enough to still provide outstanding visibility.
Consumer Reports gave the 2022 Subaru Forester an overall rating of 90. It scored a 5 out of 5 rating for its braking, driving position, rear seat comfort, front/rear access, and usability. Buyers can expect an overall 28 mpg, with 20 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway.
2022 Subaru Outback
The top safety pick Subaru Outback
ranked #1 of 12 midsize sport-utility vehicles. The Outback offers an airy outward view, with a modestly elevated seating position and a raised ride height. The generous view over the hood is thanks to its long and tall side windows and various slim pillars. The front triangle windows make it easy to see pedestrians or cars around side mirrors, and the large third side window helps lessen rear three-quarter blind spots. It also helps to have a massive rear window.
The 2022 Subaru Outback comes standard with a 2.5-liter engine that pumps out 182 hp. If you level up, the 2.4-liter turbocharged engine on the XT trim can crank out 260 hp.
The interior fit and finish feel solid and substantial. Leather seats in the cabin offer plenty of comfort and support, not to mention two-way lumbar adjustment only on the driver's side.
With an overall rating of 85, Consumer Reports gave the Subaru SUV a 5 out of 5 for its transmission, ride, driving position, front-seat comfort, and climate system.
