Ford
retired the midsize SUV back in 1996... Until now. The 2021 Ford Bronco Wildtrak is the most expensive trim available in the lineup. Other versions available are the Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, and Badlands.
The Wildtrak is built to perform in an off-road setting. Its design and performance rivals that of the
Jeep Wrangler
. Reviewers agree that it addresses common complaints held by owners of the competition, but the Wildtrak comes with its own set of drawbacks.

Features of the 2021 Ford Bronco Wildtrak

With the highest level of standard features, the 2021 Ford Bronco Wildtrak sells for $48,475. Available in two-door and four-door configurations, it sits high and wide. There’s no mistaking it’s the new Bronco with its retro design and round headlights as a dead giveaway.
Ford borrowed the 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine from the F-150, according to
J.D. Power
. With 330 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque, the 2021 Ford Bronco Wildtrak is built for high-speed desert running. The EcoBoost is paired solely with a 10-speed automatic transmission in the Wildtrak. A seven-speed manual transmission is available in other trims.
Sitting atop 35-inch all-terrain tires, the SUV will fetch 18 mpg and move from 0 to 60 mph in less than six seconds.
InsideHook
believes the Terrain Management System is the most prominent feature. A simple dial allows the driver to select different “Go Over Any Terrain” (G.O.A.T.) driving modes. The Wildtrak is capable of tackling most obstacles, but leaves rock climbing to other Bronco trims.
The Sasquatch suspension package, Trail Control, and automatic on-demand four-wheel drive make the 2021 Ford Bronco Wildtrak an off-roading beast.

Reviews of the 2021 Ford Bronco Wildtrak

While it remains a force to be reckoned with in the sand, highway driving is a different story.
Motor Authority
highlights the issue of noise due to the wide stance of the tires and mirrors, combined with the squeaking hardtop and lack of sound deadener used. While the cabin is roomy enough, the cheap plastics that make up the interior are disappointing.
The 2021 Ford Bronco Wildtrak certainly made a point of addressing pain points with the Jeep Wrangler. Mirrors are mounted to stay in place when the doors are removed, and doors are frameless to make them lighter during removal. But owners have noted many issues with paint chipping and the seal around the doors and roof. Although quick, the Wildtrak does not handle corners very well.
Ultimately, reviewers agree that this vehicle is best suited for serious off-roading adventurers. The SUV is not recommended as a daily commuter. While the return of the Bronco is exciting, it still has yet to find a unique identity that warrants a special following.
