The 2022 Hyundai Tucson ranges from $24,950 to $43,200. It’s rated #2 in Consumer Reports' list of top compact sport-utility-vehicles and comes as a hybrid. The redesigned SUV offers sharper handling and a much smoother ride. It may even outshine the Toyota RAV4 and the Nissan Rogue.
The best new SUV sports a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 187 hp. Though it takes the vehicle an entire 9.6 seconds to accelerate to 60 mph, it’s not a problem for everyday driving and errands in the city. The steering is responsive and well-weighted, and its firm suspension absorbs most bumps.
The cabin suppresses various levels of wind and road noise and is a step up from the last Tucson. The 2022 Hyundai Tucson also offers more cargo space
than any other compact SUV. There are 38.7 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 74.8 cubic feet with the seats folded down. Drivers will receive stylish controls, quality materials, padded areas, and an upscale appearance. The new 8-inch infotainment touch screen is user-friendly and offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Consumer Reports gave the vehicle an overall score of 89 and a 5 out of 5 rating for its predicted reliability, predicted owner satisfaction, braking, and rear seat comfort. The best new SUV earned the same score for its front access, usability, and climate system. For its ride and noise, the Tucson received a 4 out of 5.
Buyers can expect an overall 26 mpg, with 18 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway.
The 2022 Kia Telluride
Consumer Reports rated the new Telluride SUV #1 of 14 midsize sport-utility vehicles with three rows. The car ranges from $33,390 to $45,190 and excels in noise suppression. It earns an overall 21 mpg, with 14 mpg in the city, and 30 mpg on the highway.
The 2022 Kia Telluride features a 3.8-liter V6 engine that can ramp up to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds. The shifts transition smoothly on the responsive eight-speed automatic and the cabin is much quieter than its competitors.
Compared to other cars in its class, the hum of the engine is muffled and relaxed. With low levels of wind and road noise, it’s easy to forget about the outside world.

If you’re looking for the utmost luxury, comfort, and convenience, the EX version is where it’s at. Buyers can expect a leather interior, a sunroof, three-zone automatic climate control, and heated and ventilated front seats.
The cabin is nicely styled, with lots of soft-touch surfaces, a satin-finish trim, and attractive imitation wood. The narrow, flat sills and large door opening make the front seats easy to get into. The seats can recline, move forward and back, and are very supportive. The third row is easily accessible by pushing a button to flip the second-row seats forward.
Steering wheel buttons can control the 10.25-inch display, including scrolling through various presets and adjusting the audio source. If you opt for the EX or SX version, Quiet mode can turn off ear speakers if you’ve got sleeping passengers or a newborn in the back.
