Subaru WRX Drivers Can't Stop Speeding

A recent analysis into which car models receive the most
speeding tickets
, has found the Subaru WRX at the top of the list.Incredibly, it is the third year in a row that the sporty Subaru has received this dubious award, with WRX drivers
getting penalty points
at twice the average national rate.Many states have reported
an increase in the number of speeders
on their streets, and it seems Subaru drivers are playing a big part, with the BRZ and Impreza joining the WRX in the list of most ticketed cars.
Cars with the most speeding tickets

study into our nation's top speeders shows that 18.8% of Subaru WRX drivers have received at least one speeding ticket. The WRX is joined in the top 10 by two other Subarus, the BRZ and Impreza, whose drivers also get ticketed at well over the average rate of 9.59%.
Unsurprisingly, the notoriously fast Volkswagen Golf GTI makes the top 10, just behind the GMC C1500, which is the only American-made car to appear in the list:

Why do Subaru WRX drivers get so many speeding tickets?
Half the cars in the top 10 are sports cars, indicating drivers of these models are keen to test the limits. All 10 have retail prices below the national average. This affordability means there are lots of them around, further contributing to high ticket rates.
The WRX has topped the speeding list for the last three years, suggesting it appeals to a certain type of driver who is willing to disregard speed limits at a higher-than-average rate. It is certainly marketed as a ride for thrill-seekers; TV commercials show it ripping around desert roads at top speed and skidding into turns.
The fact that three Subaru models make the top 10 is a bad look for the company, which prides itself on making some of the safest cars on the market, and is leading the way in
driver-assist technology
. The WRX, BRZ, and Impreza all received 4 or 5-star ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, but drivers can expect to pay high
insurance rates
due to this apparent disregard for speeding laws.
