What does the 2022 GMC Sierra’s Denali trim include?
Before we get started, we should explain one thing: Sierra trims should be split into two groups: the off-road ready and the workhorses. The Denali trims belong in the latter category.
That said, they both offer a lot of power. The Denali offers a choice of a 3.0L diesel engine or an upgrade from 2.7-liter four-cylinder to a 5.3-liter V8. Pay the extra $20,000 for the Denali Ultimate and you get access to the 6.2-liter V8.
SuperCruise, GMC’s driver assistance system, is available only in these two trims, as is the brand’s carbon-fiber composite truck bed.
Premium suspension, authentic wood interiors, and other unique stylings in and out come with the upgrade. The Denali Ultimate also includes 12 Bose speakers and an enhanced sound system.
Choosing whether to go for a Denali obviously depends on personal preference, but for the practically minded, it doesn’t make that much sense.
Most of the functions provided in the Denali can be found in trims with much cheaper starting prices. The SLT trim, for example, gives you the engine upgrade offered in the Denali.
The fancier suspension and driver-assistance tech isn’t available in the SLT, but all the other differences between it and the Denali are cosmetic.
The top-trim Denali Ultimate, on the other hand, opens access to features only available in the most expensive pickups in GMC’s lineup. It shares its impressive
and 6.2-liter V8 engine with only one other Sierra, the $75,000 AT4X. But it starts at over $80,000.
Choosing your GMC Sierra trim
Let’s face it. Even though pickup trucks are getting more luxurious, people don’t treat them like luxury vehicles. Pickup drivers tend to use their trucks for tough, dirty work. That means that the value of ornate upholstery and “open-pore wood accents” will get lost as your truck depreciates.
, you know the $80,000 Denali Ultimate is the only trim that’s right for you. But for the average person buying a pickup truck, know that these high-priced luxuries are purely an indulgence.
