There is nothing wrong with focusing on the more popular
classic cars
out there, like the
top cars of the '60s
. If you look past the more famous classics, though, you'll find a lot of underrated gems. A benefit to an underrated classic car is that it might go for cheaper prices than a more popular one since the demand is lower.
Road and Track
listed some of the most underrated classic cars of all time. Here are six highlights from their list.
We all love a ‘60s Mustang, but some of these classics deserve their moment in the spotlight too!

Fiat 600

Fiat vehicles always seem to get looked over.
Modern Fiats rank much lower
than they probably deserve to, and classic Fiat cars were often underrated too. Possibly the most underrated Fiat is the Fiat 600.
The most famous Fiat is the Fiat 500, a small and stylish Italian treasure, and as the name implies, the Fiat 600 is a slightly larger model. While the 600 does not have the interestingly small size of its predecessor, it is still a great example of '50s and '60s design.

Volkswagen Scirocco

The Scirocco might not be the most widely remembered Volkswagen, but it deserves its time in the spotlight. Two generations of this three-door sport compact were produced from 1974 to 1992. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, the Scirocco has a unique look that makes it a great collector's car.

Studebaker Lark

Studebaker as a company went defunct in 1967, and some of their cars have fallen out of memory as a result of their early exit from the market. However, there are plenty of gems in the Studebaker lineup, and the Lark should not be overlooked.
The Studebaker Lark was considered a great compact car during the early 1960s. Today Larks can be found for much cheaper than some other cars from the era. The Lark gained a reputation among muscle car enthusiasts, so there are some powerful variants of the car out there.

Sunbeam Tiger

The Sunbeam Tiger is another creation of automotive legend Carroll Shelby. He is most well known for creating the Shelby Cobra, but his Sunbeam Tiger deserves more recognition.
Shelby's Sunbeam Tiger was a modified performance version of a Sunbeam Alpine. It was only produced from 1964 to 1967, and you can still find these cars available for surprisingly cheap prices.

AMC AMX

Fans of muscle cars should give more credit to the
AMC AMX
. Produced from 1968 to 1970 by the American Motors Corporation, the AMX was one of the most beautiful muscle cars on the market. This Corvette competitor might not have survived on the market for very long, but there are AMX enthusiasts who keep the car alive.

Ferrari Dino 308 GT4

Drivers who are interested in a classic Ferrari might consider the overlooked Dino 308 GT4. This V8-powered Ferrari was produced from 1973 to 1980. It was an interesting vehicle at the time because it was a 2+2, meaning it had two small seats in the back in addition to those in the front.
The Dino 308 GT4 is underrated, as many drivers pay more attention to the two-seat 308 GTB. Because of this, as long as having a 2+2 is okay, you might be able to find cheaper GT4s.
